Winter Vehicle Safety & Maintenance
Many of the
precautions you take on your house can be taken for your vehicle as
well. Make sure your oil is changed, your fluids are checked and your
tires are in good condition. Replace your windshield wipers. Keep
your gas tank full to avoid ice in your gas tank or fuel lines. A
winter storm is one of the worse times to get stuck.
Keep
an emergency kit in your car
Bring
a snow shovel with you when you expect snow
Keep
sand, salt and/or kitty litter in your trunk for weight
and to spread for traction if needed
Keep a blanket, flashlight,
maps and tools in your vehicle
If you get stranded,
it's usually safer to stay in your car
